Believe in the Power of Affirmations and Unlock Your Potential

Do you understand the power of affirmations? What you say will happen. You will always be right. No matter what you tell yourself. The world can be very cruel with negativity. If you start believing what is said by others around you, even directed to you, your world will remain like that as well. However, did you know you can take back that control? It starts with YOU! Yes! You!

What are Affirmations?

Affirmations are statements that you speak to yourself. This is also called self talk. Additionally Affirmations can be extremely powerful, they can be positive or negative, depending on what you are saying to yourself. If you find yourself saying things that “I don’t deserve to be happy”, guess what? You will NOT be happy! No amount of other people telling you that you should be happy will change your mind! If you say things like “this will never work”, yep right again.

Understanding what affirmations are and that you can take baby steps towards taking control of you once again, you can achieve anything. In fact, utilizing positive affirmations can be so effective in your life that you will realize that other people’s drama is not your problem and you can let it go. You will also see that your emotions will remain in check, not giving control over your anger, fears to others. One thing I have experienced is that it’s a way to boost your confidence and motivation by repeating uplifting words and thoughts.

The Power of Affirmations

The power of positive affirmations can truly change your outlook on life. Please understand that this power in affirmations lies in their ability to positively influence your mindset, thoughts, and actions.

You have probably heard people that you have to believe in order to achieve. But if you are telling yourself, or even thinking negative words, you are giving power to THOSE words. It is time to get rid of the “I can’ts”, “It won’ts” and “I don’ts”. Replace them with “I can”, “I will”, and “I do”!

Your Mind vs Positive Affirmations

Your mind desires to be positive, your body reacts incredibly when you stay positive. People say Power in prayer, what they are saying is that they believe in whatever it is you believe. Knowing that people are praying for our healing makes us feel good, sometimes even more powerful in overcoming our adversities. Our subconscious mind is waiting to obey the words we tell it.

Affirmations are very similar. Only they are statements made by you to yourself. If you do not believe what you say, no one will be able to change your mind. This is not about changing the world, but changing OUR own world, our own life. How we react to what we tell ourselves is the very beginning of it all.

People seem to be more concerned about what they are putting into their body for nutrition but ignoring what they fill their mind with. Look around you. Even the media is wanting to bring out the drama, the doom and gloom in everything. What they say, how they act is going out into the world. Everyone really needs to take a closer look at their internal mirror. By telling ourselves positive affirmations, we truly have the power to change.

Start and End your Day with the Power of Affirmations

You need to start saying positive affirmations daily, when you get up and when you lay down at night. Start simple, but keep it positive. Make this a new habit. Saying them in front of the mirror is even better! Start it with a smile, it will seem silly at first, but you deserve this! No one else is going to change THEIR opinions of you until you change your opinion of you. If you choose to wallow in drama, despair, overall negativity, you will remain there. It is time. Start now.

One of the first things you need to do is do some self reflection and answer these 3 questions:

  1. Where are you now?
  2. What do you want to change?
  3. Where do you want to be in 90 days?

For me, I try my best to relook at these 3 questions often. It helps me to say and hear the affirmations that will help me continue to grow. No answer is wrong when it comes from you.

For me, the answer to each is looked at from both a personal and professional aspect so I create 2 sets of affirmations, 1 for personal and 1 for professional.

Examples of Positive Affirmations

Here are a few great starting Affirmations, but come up with your own too as they will mean more to you. Do not get discouraged if things don’t appear to be getting better in your environment. You just spent all your life creating it, so getting it to change overnight is not realistic in expectations.

  • I AM Amazing
  • I AM Happy
  • I AM a Success
  • I AM Worthy of all Great and Positive Outcomes
  • I CAN do anything I put my mind to
  • I AM Powerful
  • I AM a Leader
  • I AM doing amazing things in my life

After reading through these few statements, I am sure you can come up with others that mean more to you. As long as they are positive, you cannot go wrong. You can also tailor these affirmations for better health, Wealth, abundance, love. I love creating new affirmations that bring joy and happiness and less stress to my life.

What Results Can You Expect?

As a result of saying affirmations daily, you may just find that you are too happy for some people. HAHA! Remember this: NMP – Not My Problem. You do not need their drama in your life. You do not need to allow for their poor mindset to bring you down. Keep your vibration raised high.

This can be applied to so many things in our lives, but one that comes to mind is Road Rage. The next time someone cuts you off in traffic or causes you to want to lash out at them in retaliation, stop. Tell yourself “They are having a bad day” and move on with your life. Be grateful for what you have in your life.

When someone at the office whether boss or co-worker jumps all over you, take the time to reflect before reacting. Are they really upset with your actions or are they frustrated with a lack of their own. So, take a breath, tell yourself you are Amazing. Now if you did make a mistake, own it and move on. Learn from it. The knee jerk reaction is always to bite back. But with the help of Positive Affirmations, those types of confrontations that are uncomfortable for everyone will diminish because you are now at your best with a positive attitude.

Growing your Power with Affirmations

Ready to take it one step further? Start a journal. Then, Write down your affirmations as you say them aloud. Then write what positive expectations you have for the day ahead. You can even come back that night and write down only positive results. Then after a week, go re-read what you have written. Infuse your mental attitude with positivity. Seek other positive influences. YouTube and Google can be amazing helps for getting you more material to keep your positivity flowing. Whatever you decide to do, just do it (Sorry Nike).

One of my mentors, Rory Ricord, stated recently to us: “Everyone has to start somewhere, but you have to start!” Kind of seems like a no brainer, but it is just as amazing that we sometimes have to have some great self talk with ourselves.
