Brazilian Chicken Stroganoff as a side dish

brazilian chicken stroganoff

We recently visited a Brazilian style restaurant while on business travel. The dish we tasted that was unbelievably delicious was a chicken stroganoff. It wasn’t even a main course! It was part of the buffet area of side dishes. We pour it over a bed of white rice and we even had seconds.

The version we found we have also made modifications to so that we can dial into the flavors we experienced that night. For your information, there are over 6 million results on Google for Brazilian Chicken Stroganoff. This amazing, juicy chicken with a delectable creamy sauce is completely ready to eat in under 45 minutes! What is, even more, is that this is a budget-friendly and easy weeknight meal. It is decadent enough to make it even for special occasions. Even better, pair it with an amazing white wine to make it extra special because you deserve it!

Let’s Get This Brazilian Chicken Stroganoff Dinner Cooking!

Alright to get this dinner cooking, get a large skillet heating on medium heat with about 1 tablespoon of the olive oil. Once the oil is hot enough place the chicken in the skillet and season it with about 1/4 teaspoon of pepper and salt. Cook until chicken is no longer pink. Remove from the skillet and place on a plate.

Take the 2 tablespoons of butter and melt it with the other 2 tablespoons of olive oil using medium-high heat. Next, add the onions and cook them for about 2 minutes. If you are adding mushrooms, add them and cook until they become golden. This usually takes about 5-6 minutes.

Are the smells getting to you yet? Just wait!

Now add in the flour and the garlic. Cooking and stirring for a minute before turning the heat to low. Taking the chicken broth plus all the seasonings on the list, including the balance of the black pepper and salt, stir into the skillet.

Bring all of this to a boil before reducing it to a simmer until it thickens up, but not overly thick. This will be approximately 5 minutes.

Final Step – Thank goodness because the house smells delicious!

Reducing the heat to low, whisk in the soft cream cheese until it melts. If you use the full-fat type of cream cheese, it will melt better. The best is to get it to completely melt. Now add the sour cream and continue stirring. Bring the chicken back into the skillet and warm it up thoroughly which takes about a minute. Are you ready for a taste?

Making the bed fit you just like Goldilocks!

OK so Goldilocks literally lay down in multiple beds to find the one that was just right, you need to choose what you will serve the stroganoff on. It traditionally is on a bed of noodles, but you can use mashed potatoes, rice or keep it Keto friendly and use cauliflower mash.

We also love a great white wine from our wine of the month club, but you know what? Because of the amazing taste of this Brazilian chicken stroganoff, red goes just as well!
